Phase Sequency / Failure
Relay
Three Phase Under Voltage

The M5PM is designed to monitor a three phase supply.   The unit checks that all three phases are present, in the correct sequence, and that each phase to phase voltage is above the set level.

Key Features

  • Mode of operation:  When power is applied the relay will energize and the green LED will light.  If the phase sequence is incorrect or the phase voltage drops below the set level, the red fault LED will light and the relay will de-energize.
  • Installation:  Before installation isolate the supply.  Connect the supply.  Set the trip level to minimum.   Switch on the supply and check to see if the PWR LED illuminates.  If this does occur and the FAULT LED illuminates, the supply should be disconnected and two phase connections reversed.  When the supply is reconnected the relay should energize.   If this does not occur, check the individual voltage levels on all three phases.
  • Setting:  For accurate setting, adjust the trip level upwards until the unit trips.  Then reduce the trip level to extinguish the FAULT LED.  By close setting of the trip voltage, the unit will also detect a phase loss, even with a large percentage of regenerative voltage fluctuations, the trip level should be reduced further to prevent false tripping.
